Internship or Master's thesis in Automated Integrated Workflow Project, Kassel (Germany)

What you can expect:
The automated workflows project is related to application of cognitive/artificial intelligence and big data for reservoir and production engineering. Similar concepts are known in the Oil & Gas industry as “Intelligent Energy”, “Digital oilfield”, “Smartfield” or “I-field”. The project covers initial data analysis; development of data-driven models with self-learning capabilities, models validation and implementation in our oil & gas fields.

Within this project the following tasks will be assigned to you:

• Screening and handling input data from different sources: as laboratory reports (pdfs, Excel, etc.)
• Organizing/maintaining data in database
• Fltering, analyzing and testing the data in Matlab, TIBCO Spotfire, R, R-Studio, Excel and other tools
• Visualizing the data in TIBCO Spotfire, or other tools
• Reviewing the state-of-art literature on above mentioned topics
• Supporting leading technical developers for specific workflows / models design / testing
• Assisting  in simulation of geochemical, physical and thermodynamic processes
• Deriving and testing optimization procedures and analytical models based on differential equations in Matlab, Excel
• Programming the analytical workflows, testing different approaches

What we expect:

• BSc, MSc students on engineering/natural sciences from an accredited University
• Good understanding of mathematics (statistics and optimization theory), physics (thermodynamics), chemistry (metallurgy) and programming skills
• Ability to critical/creative and analytical thinking, out of box thinking
• Quick learning by yourself and team-minded
• Advanced knowledge in MS Office package, Matlab and/or TIBCO Spotfire
• Good command of two of the following programming languages (R, Python, C#, VBA)
• Fluent English, spoken and written
